Sianna Sherman received one of her first initiations into yoga in 1989 during an evening vigil and meditation campaign to Free Mandela. The experience of thousands of University students in meditation and prayer for a greater cause ignited a profound revolutionary force inside of Sianna and awakened a tipping point she could not deny. Within a few months, she left the path of medicine for the unknown and mysterious path of yoga. With determination, surrender and fierce dedication, Sianna began multiple sojourns and pilgrimages throughout the world including several trips to India to fully immerse in the studies and practices of yoga.
Today, Sianna is an internationally celebrated yoga teacher, evocative storyteller and passionate speaker at conferences and festivals throughout the world. Sianna is well respected as a teacher of teachers, and her mastery combines the knowledge of the traditional with contemporary wisdom. Sianna teaches a multifaceted approach based on integrative consciousness that combines hatha yoga, vinyasa, Tantra, yoga anatomy, therapeutics, mythology, mantra, meditation, wisdom lineages and the power of the practices for everyday transformation. Sianna’s background includes a dual degree in biology and nutrition, extensive training as a body worker, several apprenticeships as a wild-crafter of plant medicines, initiation as a priestess in the Celtic tradition and many years as a storyteller. She has a unique ability to touch the human heart through story, ritual and devotional practice and inspires students all around the world to practice with intention, commitment and inspiration. Sianna’s teachings are a true convergence of science, mysticism, art and yoga.
Sianna is the founder of Mythic Yoga Flow® and the co-founder of Urban Priestess, a modern-day mystery school for women. Sianna leads 200 + 300 hour Rasa Yoga Teacher Trainings around the globe, and writes for multiple magazines. Sianna co-created the Goddess Yoga Project with Yoga Journal to help women step into their power and serve the world more fully. In 2008, Sianna was featured by Yoga Journal as one of the 21 top talented young teachers, shaping the future of yoga worldwide, and today, she is committed to helping ignite the alchemy of yoga for a lifetime of sustainable practice and transformation.
